Our New Family Member
I want to introduce our new family member, he is a lovely cat, who we are calling Ernest. He is so cute, and very, very friendly!!I heard about Ernest two weeks ago, when I was walking past a neighbour's home. According to this neighbour, who has been living in our housing complex for a long time, many people move out of the complex and leave their cats behind!!! I will never understand how cruel some people can be, it makes me so angry and so sad, more than I can express!
Anyhow, little Ernest was such an abandoned cat, who was being fed by and taken care of by this neighbour, outside on her back porch. She couldn't take him in, as she has 5 cats of her own (all rescued in the complex).
So I spoke to my husband, and after a bit of discussion, we decided to give him a home. He came to us by kismat. We got him on Wednesday, took him to the vet on Thursday to have him examined. He got tested for feline AIDS, as she saw something in his mouth, that indicated that he might have been infected, and this had me a bit worried. Anyhow, on Friday morning he got the all clear, and now he's our new boy!
He is a little over a year, and is quite tiny for a male (in fact I was so convinced he was a female cat, that I had a girl's name all picked out). He is very skinny, and needs to put on weight, and he is being checked out for parasites as well.
He is so lovely, and I am so happy and lucky to have him! My dog Bombom has been ignoring him these past few days, but today she decided he's here to stay, so she went to sniff him, and he's quite calm with her. I know they will be friends soon.
